Store the milk in small glasses or plastic containers with a tight-fitting lid. The presence of one of the following marks on the bottom of some plastic containers indicates that they are safe to use.
Label the expressed milk with the date, time and the baby’s name.
Store milk in the back of the freezer or refrigerator, not the door.
Freeze milk in small amounts of 50 to 60 millimeters to avoid wasting any.
When freezing, do not fill the container fully; leave 1/3 at the top; breast milk expands as it freezes.
If you don’t plan to use refrigerated expressed milk within 3 days, freeze it right away.
Milk can be stored in a cooler with frozen ice packs for up to 24 hours when you are travelling.
